Spring Skincare: How To Transition Your Skincare Routine

Spring is in the air and with the changes of wardrobe comes changes to your skincare habits. The change of seasons is the perfect time to reassess your skincare routine and see what adjustments need to be made.

If you're not sure where to start, don't worry - we have got you covered. In this post, we'll share some tips on how to transition your skincare routine from winter to spring. By following these simple steps, you can keep your skin looking healthy and radiant all season long.

Why Should I Change My Skincare Routine For Spring?

Well, the care your skin needs in the winter months is much different from the care and attention it requires in the spring. This new season is the time to awaken your skin and get back your natural luminous glow. Give your skin a new goal and switch up your routine. We have your new season covered with these spring skincare tips and tricks.

Double Cleanse: Spring Clean Your Skin

With this new season comes more days enjoying the outdoors, sweating and layers of sunscreen that can block pores that can already be congested from the prior winter months. This means you may need a deeper cleanse, or spring cleanse.

A great cleanser to your spring routine is Plussh cleanser or Multiplicity cleanser. Plussh is our most popular David and Mary cleanser. A super gentle, easy rinse facial cleanser with anti-bacterial properties for sensitive skin, including rosacea, post-laser, and post-surgery cleansing. Extracts of chamomile, rosemary, and tea tree combine with powerful anti-pollutants to restore skin to a normal ph.Multiplicity is a versatile, foaming cleanser blends encapsulated vitamins A, C, and E and trace minerals to provide emulsification of impurities without drying the skin.

Exfoliate Weekly: Slough Away Dull Winter Skin

Spring is the perfect time to start rethinking weekly exfoliation – twice per week to be exact. During the winter months, our skin can be dry and flaky. While the dry skin cells naturally fall off, some cells stay behind on your skin and can lead to congested pores and a dull complexion. In steps, exfoliation to help give you glowing skin for spring.

Clean Slate is a uniquely blended papain enzymes and essential oils join forces to exfoliate dead skin cells and hydrate the skin in one process. Peppermint, lavender, and grapefruit oils help to eliminate bacteria and refresh the senses. Sugar and milk proteins also aid in the dual action of exfoliating and refining the skin. This hard-working skincare essential can be used alone as an exfoliate, mixed with a cleanser, or applied as a mask that is left on the skin for 10-15 minutes and gently rinsed off with tepid water.

When it comes to exfoliation, keep it consistent. Regular exfoliation is crucial to maintaining healthy skin because it removes the top layer of dead and dry skin cells.

Hydrate In Layers: Opt For Mists & Serums

Swap your heavier winter moisturizer for lighter layers of hydration. This is especially crucial if you’re spending more time outdoors and sweating. By layering hydrating, you create a lighter moisture barrier that is just as effective.

Silver Bullet is a non-greasy, yet highly moisturizing tonic monitors the effects of environmental forces and aging. It keeps the skin supercharged no matter what the climatic changes.

Smooth Move Serum is chalked full of hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and plump skin. It helps to create a smooth, more suppled skin texture and contains advanced glycogen which encourages cellular renewal and fights inflammation.

Switch Your Eye Cream: Add More Antioxidants & Plump

Once spring arrives and the sun is out, the brightness can cause more squinting which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area. A great way to prevent this is to continue applying eye cream daily. However, opt for eye creams that have antioxidants and peptides that will help fight off collagen-destroying UVA rays and plump fine lines and wrinkles.

Nite Nite eye cream is a  lightweight cream absorbs rapidly to help reinforce and strengthen skin in the eye and neck area. Hyaluronic acid ensures continuous treatment by attracting moisture from surrounding areas to heighten the moisturizing effect.

Why should I use eye cream instead of my regular moisturizer? Eye skin tissue is more delicate and thinner than the rest of your face, meaning it needs special care. This is why eye products are formulated to be more gentle, less irritating and more moisturizing than your facial moisturizer.

Moisturize & Protect: Use Lighter Moisturizer, Heavy SPF

With warmer weather and spring florals to tempt us to spend more time outside comes more daily exposure to the sunshine. Let’s revisit layering moisture and toss in our forever reminder of SPF daily. Protecting your skin from the sun’s rays is crucial to maintaining healthy skin long-term and preventing premature aging. This means applying moisturizer and SPF each day under your makeup or before leaving your home.

An easy way to do this is to use a moisturizer that offers anti-aging benefits and SPF. Beloved Complexion Shield is David and Mary’s answer to foundation only better! Beloved Complexion Shield is a water resistant, physical sunscreen that features a moisturizing base with a sheer, universal tint beneficial for most skin types. And, if you’re spending long days outdoors, don’t forget to have sunblock on hand to re-apply throughout the day.
