Holiday Lips & Tips

Life is returning and soon wearing a mask will be a thing of the past, hopefully sooner than later! I myself cannot wait for the holidays to show off a festive look on my lips. There are so many looks to choose from that will bring me joy but here are my favorite looks to begin the festive season.
Berry lips are a perfect fit if you want color on your lips, especially if you have olive toned skin, a darker skin tone or you are a light skin tone and desire a statement lip. For a rich and sheer pigmented berry lip tone the Cherie Sheer Shine Lipstick is perfect! And if you want to add pout to your lips, Ice Wine Luxury Lip Gloss over Cherie lipstick gives fantastic coverage and beautifully designed full lips.
A striking toasted nude lip is always a go to for the holidays whether you are going to a party or impressing your girlfriends at yoga. Bachelorette Liquid Lipstick Matte works beautifully for this type of lip color. Add Skinny Dip Luxury Gloss for an even sexier application, this lip color is such a tried and true lipstick choice no matter if you remember Twiggy or you are a fan of the Kylie Jenner. I also loved it paired with a smokey eye for a glamorous application that will be totally magical for a elegant holiday party during the season.

Last but not least is a classic red lip for any occasion during the holidays. For the most long lasting matte red try Red She Said Liquid Lipstick Matte. I love a red lip because I can keep my eye makeup to a minimum as long as my skin looks polished, I have on lots of mascara, my eye brows are defined and I topped off my look with blush just on the apples of my cheeks. A perfect application, with not a lot of work, and I am ready to go out and enjoy any festive holiday activity that is thrown my way!

Soft, full-looking lips look nice but keeping your lips hydrated and healthy is most important during the colder months. If you’re like most people, though, your lips won’t look soft, pink, and plump without paying extra attention to the skin on your mouth. Below are some tips to keep your lips in shape

Exfoliate your lips

Before you head to bed at night, apply a good quality lip balm, I suggest the Vitamin E stick. After waking up, use a damp washcloth to gently rub off any dead or dry skin. This will also boost circulation to the area. If you’re using clean slate on your face as an exfoliator gently scrub it across your lips as well.

Stay hydrated

One of the most common causes of dry lips is not consuming enough water. Getting eight glasses of water a day will benefit your body in lots of ways, and fuller-looking lips are an added benefit! Who doesn’t want that?!

Protect lips from the sun

It’s common knowledge that the skin on your face is subject to damaging sun exposure. However, your lips need protection too! Even in colder months an SPF will protect your skin from damaging UV rays. Using daily SPF 15 or above, even on cloudy or cold days, helps slow the signs of aging. One step SPF 30 is the perfect sun protector for both your skin & lips.

Wishing you the most Joyous and Happiest of Holidays in 2021!
Mary
